See more of Hanna & Jerod's story in our new series Unconditional (1M views on YouTube!): https://youtu.be/Wv1RWOkPzXQ On the tenth anniversary of the accident that changed Jerod’s life, he married his absolute soul mate and gem of a woman, Hanna. In 2011, Jerod was on a family vacation in Mexico. Upon arrival, the family headed down to the beach for a quick swim. Jerod dove into a wave and tragically into an unseen sandbar, which immediately broke his neck. His brother wasn't far behind and pulled Jerod out of the water when he realized something was wrong. After a few years, Jerod moved to Louisville, KY to take part in a research program, but his life just wasn't the same. He felt closed in, and though his family offered so much love and support, his life had dramatically changed. Enter Hanna. While saving up for a year-long sabbatical of world travel, Hanna got an opportunity to be a caregiver on Saturdays for Jerod, under the condition that he take her out to brunch. Immediately, Hanna had Jerod at music festivals, shows, and had taken him on his first trip without his parents since the accident. Since they met, they have now been on 30 trips! So on the 10th anniversary of Jerod's accident, these two lovebirds decided to start a new chapter. In the words of Jerod’s dad, “It’s their wish to make this day a happy day. A fond memory.” As you can imagine, the emotion was palpable at this gorgeous, intimate, and perfect wedding. The pure joy on Jerod’s face — that big, cheesy grin spoke so much resolution. The way he paid homage to his mother with pure love and perfect humor — it felt like she was in that room. And Hanna. The muse among her gorgeous flowers, the delicate details, the sweet Korean ceremony, the emotional vows balanced with the need to get the freaking party started and that COSTUME CHANGE. Our only wish was to do these two justice. To capture the raw emotion and end with a joyful punch because THAT is Hanna and Jerod.
