"Dottie and I grew up hearing about each other in elementary school from a mutual friend who I had a crush on at the time. I grew up hearing about this girl with a not-so-common name and Dot grew up hearing about a boy who liked her best friend. After attending different middle schools, Dottie transferred to Huntington Beach High School her sophomore year. We became friends at First Christian Church's high school youth group and starting hanging out in a group setting. I found myself becoming drawn to Dottie more and more, wanting to spend time with her and hoping that she was wherever I was going. I couldn't get her out of my head. Two weeks after we went to the Sadie Hawkins dance in March we began to officially date as boyfriend and girlfriend. Dottie and I finished out high school together and moved onto Point Loma Nazarene University where we grew immensely in each aspect of our lives as a couple and as individuals. The rest, as they say, is history. But history doesn't just work itself out, it takes people, and in this case it took two people with a strong friendship and a strong commitment to work on our relationship and to grow.We began dating when we were 17 and are now we are 22. Over five years of dating and in that time we have been to two countries, three national parks, and many different states together. Our love has grown and more importantly, it has deepened more than we thought possible. For all those engaged couples out there: being married is WAY better than getting married. We've never been happier!"
