Zoe and maid of Honor Erin Hawker, have been inseparable since being high school teammates on Aquajets Swim Team. When she and Erin attended different colleges, they went months without visits. At school, Erin met a good friend and teammate, Dan. As a fellow Minnesota swimmer, Dan drove her back home from school. Zoe hadn't seen Erin for a few months and decided to visit her the day she got home. This is the first time that she would meet Dan.
When they met, Dan knew two things about Zoe; she was a fast swimmer and would be his coworker at the same pool this summer. He awkwardly greeted Zoe with, “Hi, we’re going to be coworkers this summer.” Zoe gave a side eye and politely agreed. Dan fell for her right then and there.
Despite their awkward meeting, the two of them spent time together every day in and out of work. One of their most memorable memories that summer came after a lifeguard training when a video said to never ask your coworker out each day, so naturally, Zoe did this as a joke...every day. Dan playfully declined every time to see if she would continue.
After that first summer, the two would see each other frequently during the school year. Dan would drive home from school for holidays and simply to visit her. Once the school year ended, the two knew they had something special. One night, Zoe went to the grocery store and decided to bring over a pizza to Dan’s house with a unique idea in mind. She gave him the pizza and a napkin with a note on it. Dan read the note which said, “I know this is cheesy, but will you go out with me?” He smiled and this time, he said yes!
The two dated and fell for each other, but their love was solidified during their frequent trips to Duluth, MN. They did just about everything up there, creating everlasting memories together as Duluth became a special place. This is where they got engaged, applied to schools, and decided it is where they want to host a wedding for their friends and family to celebrate alongside them.
