In the winter of 2012, Andy and Becca met at NIU where they were both studying mechanical engineering... in fact, Andy was Becca's heat transfer and experimental methods teaching assistant (no, dating did nothing to improve her grades in either of those classes). They formed a bond over their love of music and their mutual desire to travel. On their first date, to Fatty's Bar and Grill in DeKalb, Andy was so nervous that he didn't eat any of his food... to which Becca immediately thought "well this can't work out, I can't be with someone who eats less than I do!" After being together for only about eight months, they decided to travel around Europe for 26 days with just backpacks and almost no money... and the rest is history. Since then, they've visited 11 countries, gone to countless concerts and adopted two kittens (which are now two very well adjusted cats). Last March, while attending a talk given by Rick Steves, a travel writer, Andy actually won a raffle for one of those architecture cruises in Chicago. On a rainy Monday in June, they went for the tour and, afterward, the skies cleared up allowing for a beautiful sunset. Andy proposed on the riverwalk in downtown Chicago under a gorgeous pink sky and now they're ready to begin the rest of their lives together.
