A poetic trailer featuring the groom's godfather (an actor) reading the famous e.e. cummings 'i carry your heart with me(i carry it in)' poem. Our cameras capture Ashley subtly mouthing the poem to her fiancé as its read live during the ceremony. KC and Ashley spent a lot of time as a long distance couple before being engaged, with KC studying to be a doctor in Ireland while Ashley was back in the US as an EMT. He proposed to her shortly after he returned in April of 2017. Their entire wedding was themed to musicals, acting, and appropriately, The Great Gatsby. What makes this trailer special is the layers of meaning hidden within the shots that compliment the poem's syntax. The editing itself is nearly as thought out as the poem that accompanies it. The bench at the ocean (actually Lake Michigan) is a reference to their long distance relationship across the Atlantic. KC waits for his bride-to-be, and she physically crosses the sea at 1:03 so they can be together both literally and figuratively. The color subtly changes from muted to vibrant throughout the bench scene as time unfolds and reality becomes clearer to Ashley. The ring drop shot is upside down because love can be dizzying and its meant to jar the viewer as love does to our souls. We see KC's face as only during the wedding day events as the bench scene is not meant to be taken literally, but as a dream or desire.
