From The Bride: Jesús and I first met several years back at a summer camp in Georgia. We were living in two different cities in Florida at that time but bonded over the fact that I was getting ready to move to his hometown for college. For whatever reason - mostly my own obliviousness to his liking me - we only kept in brief touch and ran into one another every so often via mutual friends when I first moved down to Fort Myers. It wasn’t until a year or so passed that I realized how much I wanted to be with a guy like Jesús. He asked me to go on our first date in Miami, FL to see a Foster the People concert. It was a really, really great day - full of good food, coffee, art and great conversation. A year and a few months after that, we got engaged on the rooftop of Station House in my hometown, St. Petersburg,FL, and he put the prettiest custom-made ring on my finger that was a whole lot like a ring he’d seen me pin on Pinterest about 3 times. (He’s always been really thoughtful and attentive) Our wedding ceremony and reception took place in the backyard of a modern cabin at the very end of a valley road - his family and my family stayed there for a whole week before the wedding. We decided to make a trip out of our wedding and invited 50 of our closest family and friends to come eat delicious Asheville food and hike around waterfalls with us that weekend - because when else in your life can you orchestrate that kind of gathering with all your favorite people at once? The whole event had the intimacy of an elopement, but the excitement and joy of one big fantastic party. After honeymooning in Montreal, we found an artsy little apartment in Fort Myers - the kind of home that we thought only existed in prayers and dreams. Right now, I’m working as an illustrator and designer (specializing in work for brands) and Jesús is a musician and realtor. I absolutely love sharing this life with him!
