"Twenty-first century philosopher, Dominic Toretto, is famous for saying, 'I don't have friends, I got family'." The perfect description for Alison and Ben's wedding day, filled with personal touches celebrating who they are, and how they've been shaped by their extended family. From the records used as table numbers, to Ali's cool ombre dress, to the Chinese tea ceremony, everything felt unique to Ali and Ben and reflected who they are. But the way they centered their wedding day around their friends and family is what really stood out as the biggest reflection of who they are, which is kind selfless and generous. Congrats to Ben and Alison!
From the couple: "We met at work in 2016, became friends and then when I (Alison) left the company, started dating and have been together ever since. We have a lot in common and genuinely enjoy each other's company and spending time together - whether that's traveling and on an epic international adventure or sheltering in place and cooking a meal at home with our old cat and new puppy.
Proposal - My (Alison's) cousin has family in Oaxaca, Mexico and visits quite frequently. Ben and I have always wanted to tag along on one of their trips to explore the city and soak in all the good food and culture. Ben worked with my cousin to arrange the whole thing - we went on a family vacation with my cousin, her husband, their young son, and her parents (my aunt and uncle) and on the second to last day - we went to Monte Alban (these cool, historic, architectural runes) first thing in the morning before any tourists got there, Ben asked my cousin to take a photo of us, and popped the question. We were the only ones on the mountain and it was super special, surprising and romantic. Ben said he wanted to propose while we were on an adventure together because we've already gone on so many of them and we are excited to go on many more together. He and my cousin also arranged for a beautiful dinner to celebrate our engagement that evening at one of the nicest restaurants in Oaxaca.
Ben is supportive, generous, fun, caring, patient and kind and I love his companionship, loyalty and thoughtfulness. I don't know what he'd say about me - but he's kept me around this long!"
