Will and Natalie met in Charleston, SC at a local restaurant, Halls Chophouse. Will started talking to Natalie because he recognized her from 8 years back when they both lived in Athens, GA. Natalie went on a few dates with Will’s roommate at the time, and Will claimed he gave them a ride to a concert once. However, Natalie did not remember Will 🙂 Will says that when Natalie turned around and he saw her for the first time (well I guess technically the second time), her long wavy hair made her look like Xena Warrior Princess. Will and Natalie went on their first date the next day at Loggerheads, which is still one of their favorite beach hangouts at Folly Beach. They ended up spending the whole day together out at Folly Beach, beat bopping around restaurants and bars and hanging out on the beach. They both knew pretty quickly there was something different about this. After a few months, they both realized, “we really really like each other, like A LOT.” Over the next three years, they realized that they enjoyed being with each other more than anyone else (besides their dog). They have SO much fun together, respect each other, count on each other, and can’t wait for many more adventures in the future. Will planned a fun and relaxing park picnic with sandwiches, rose, oldies music, and their puppy, Beau. Natalie and Will take their makeshift tent to the park and the beach frequently, so she didn’t think much of it. They went to Hampton Park, which is one of their favorite parks in Charleston. Going to parks with their late, great, old-man dog, Jake , was always been one of their favorite things to do on their days off work. They often ride their bikes and either bring their hanging hammocks or open-air tent for a relaxing afternoon with the dog. They set up a fun afternoon picnic on a Thursday around 5pm. Will looked at Natalie and said…”You know how much I love you, right?” He then read her the most amazing, heartfelt, thoughtful letter listing reasons why he loves her and what he promises to her in their future. After finishing the letter, meanwhile Natalie unexpectedly shedding a few tears, Will says…”I need you to stand up now” (haha). Then he got down on one knee and proposed 🙂 They finished the best picnic EVER. After FaceTime-ing family, they went back to where they first met for champagne. Will surprised Natalie and had their immediate family come to Charleston the next night for a fun “family-style” Italian dinner at one of their favorite Charleston restaurants.
