My fiancé and I met in high school. He was a senior and I was a sophomore. No one thought we would make it, but 7 years later here we are. More in love now, then ever. My junior year of high school Mitchell joined the Navy. We went from being together almost every day to now only seeing each other via FaceTime. It wasn't easy, but thankfully I had cool enough parents to allow me to fly down every few months to visit him where ever he was stationed at the time. I travelled to Florida, Washington, Virginia and even Hawaii to see him. We got used to the short weekends together and the long months apart. We new that eventually we would be together, but did not realize how long we would actually be apart. In my senior year of high school I got accepted to my dream college, Michigan State University. Continuing school was my next step, but where I did that was the hardest choice for me. Do I go to my dream school, or do I make the decision to go live with him and go to school in whatever city he was stationed in for the time being. When I told Mitchell I had been accepted to my dream school he never hesitated and said “you have to go there, it has always been your dream. You’ve worked so hard.” We decided together that MSU was my next step. We continued to fall more and more in love during our long middle of the night phone calls. Mitchell was home from Hawaii for Christmas. He was lucky enough to have 2 and a half weeks to spend with family. January 7th, 2017 was the best day of my life. We were downtown Ann Arbor wondering around in the snow celebrating our 4 year anniversary when Mitchell got down on one knee and me to be his wife. After our highest high, we had our lowest low. Mitchell was told that he needed to pack his things because he would be leaving to go across the world for 6 months for deployment. I was excited for him, but also completely terrified. 6 months apart turned into 7 months and 7 months slowly turned into 8 months. It seemed like we would never be together again. Finally, I got the call he was coming stateside. After deployment we made a promise that we would never go longer than 2 months apart. We continued this pattern of being together for small amounts of time every few months until he was discharged from the Navy in July of 2019. He came home to take over the family buisness and to start our journey together. We now live together and love to travel, play board games and spend time with our two German Shepherds, Molly and Zeus. We are so excited for this next chapter in our lives and want to have this moment captured to share with our kids some day.
