Tyler and I met on April 24, 2016 in a live music bar called Smileys Acoustic Cafe. It has been my spot for over ten years… same people, same drinks, same music. It’s like my central perk (Friends reference for those of you who aren’t obsessed with the show). Needless to say, the moment Tyler walked in, I took notice. Mainly because he’s strikingly handsome, but also because he had never been there before. My best friend was the lead singer in the band that night. She’s a tall, talented, gorgeous brunette. It made sense for his friends to dare him to talk to her… only he had no clue that she and I have ESP and she already knew I was interested In him. As soon as he opened his mouth to compliment her music, she had already introduced him to me and was long gone for another drink. Tyler and I made eye contact and from that moment, I was a goner. We danced and talked the night away…they had to kick us out of the place! Tyler is a police officer here in our City and I’m a wedding and events planner. We dated casually for a while and for our first Christmas together he gifted me a bracelet with the numbers 424 on it. You see, that is the day we met and it is also his badge number with the police department. It was from that moment, that I knew one day he would be my husband. Seems like such a small gift, but it was a large moment. We got married on of this year at one of the venues I work in. It was only fitting for us to get married at in the evening. We knew we had to do things on a budget and I wouldn’t change one thing about it. Every single item had a special connection. The cake stand was my something old, it was his grandparents. The veil I wore was my something borrowed. My something blue was a swatch of fabric cut from my late uncles shirt and I had it sewn into my dress in the shape of a heart. He was my favorite person growing up, and left us way too soon. It was nice to have items that represented those around us and the years that shaped who we are. The company I work for does roughly 200-250 weddings a year, so when it came to our big day, I wanted to do something a bit different with sparklers. I see them used the same way ten times a weekend. It’s lovely, but I wanted to do something just a bit different. Our venue was an indoor/outdoor venue and we were lucky to get 79 degree weather in February. So, we did a sparkler first dance! It was as magical as it sounds. It photographed well too! Our vendors were amazing from the catering, the venue, the photographer, cake, hair and makeup, and of course the videographers! It was the best day of my life and I want to relive it over and over
