Trevor and I met 10 years ago while we were at college at the University of Connecticut. We quickly became close friends and throughout college grew closer. After graduating, I moved to NYC for work and he stayed in Connecticut. We both felt a connection but were too nervous to do anything about it with fear that it would jeopardize our friendship and ruin our large group of friends dynamic. After 2 years of testing the waters, and keeping it secret, we decided to give a relationship a shot. Our biggest hurdle was not living in the same place - so instead of moving to one of our towns/cities, we moved across the country to San Francisco to be together and have a fresh start! After 2 years of living together in SF, we got engaged and a year later moved back to NY where we now live and are happily (newly!) married. Having our relationship go from friends, to best friends, to lovers and now husband and wife was such a special transition for us both and completely unexpected. We spent nearly 2 years engaged and planning our wedding. We knew we would have people traveling in from all over the country so it was important to us that we find a venue where everyone could stay on-site and enjoy a weekend away, full of festivities. We settled on an Inn in Northwest Connecticut set in the countryside with rolling hills, near a lake. Our loose wedding theme was a modern English garden, with lots of greenery inside our reception tent, beautiful wildflowers, simple flower girl dresses and little moments here and there to make it feel very personal. We are so happy we spent so much time planning out all of the little details as it made it so special to us.
