From The Bride:

Ryan and I met in June 2015 while we were station at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, both serving as Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. I had recently transferred and was having a hard time adjusting to all of the major changes that military moves bring. I found myself swooning over him during morning formation, too timid to make a move. Eventually, I sucked it up and asked him to brunch sometime around late August and well….we hit it off pretty well. I had NEVER pictured myself getting married, my life has been centered around medicine and that was all I ever needed, until Ryan. He completely swept me away (and continues to do so, even today, while I watch him playing the Xbox as I type *heart eyes*). Our relationship was tested heavily over the past two years. My family took the nauseating news that my father has esophageal cancer back in July 2015 and we’ve been put through the ringer. He went through several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation before going through a high-risk, 13-hour esophagectomy in December 2015. Luckily, I was able to take a week of leave and be there with my family to see him in and out of surgery. All went extremely well and he was making an impressive recovery. About two weeks away from the “Cancer-Free” celebration date, we were hit with the devastating news that the esophageal cancer had metastasized to the brain in March of 2016. Although he has been fighting bravely and has been so strong, the prognosis from November 2016 is that his illness is terminal. Ryan has been my rock through this and I am so fortunate to have hime by my side, although we were geographically separated from September 2016-June 2017, when he was transferred to Camp Lejeune, NC. Ryan and I decided to have a wedding for my father, in order for him to be there to walk me down the isle and while we originally planned a small (cheap) intimate ceremony, were incredibly blessed to have won an all-inclusive wedding at Castle Farms in Charlevoix, Michigan back in February. It was everything we could have ever dreamed of and we finally tied the knot on June 18th, 2017 (Just a few days after I moved to North Carolina to FINALLLYYYYYY be back in the same home as Ryan), surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was incredible! All of the vendors were extremely generous and did everything they could to make our wedding day perfect. I hope you can feel some of the (very high) running emotion from the video! Enjoy <3 - Taylor Ramsey-O'byrne
