Wedding Date on Oct 5, 2019

How did the couple meet? - We met in Spring 2016. Unofficially, we met on what Swapna likes to call, the Indian version of the Tinder app, Dil Mil. Officially, we met at a trendy restaurant in DC called Fainting Goat a few days of messaging. Bobby chose it specifically for the half off bottles of wine – the restaurant’s Sunday deal ;-). A modern-day type of romance! How did they get engaged? - During Labor Day weekend in 2018, we were attending a wedding of Bobby’s close buddy in Chicago. Chicago is one of Swapna’s favorite cities and luckily, we had extended the trip by a few days to enjoy some city time. Bobby told Swapna that there was a birthday at the LondonHouse rooftop downtown for another friend. If you’ve been to LondonHouse, it’s a very popular summer spot with beautiful views of the city. We were able to skip the line, which was unusual, but seemed accurate because supposedly a table was “reserved” for the birthday. Little did Swapna know, when Bobby took her up to the rooftop and turned the corner where a private pavilion was with a trail of roses, Swapna stopped in her tracks and screamed, “Wait, what is this?! What is this!” Bobby guided Swapna to the private area, got down on one knee, and the rest is history! Was there anything really unique or surprising about their wedding? - Well, anything about a South Indian wedding is unique only because there are multiple events throughout the week. Our wedding week had eight different functions. But one thing that was very surprising was that there were 300 people invited to the wedding and reception – somehow Swapna’s sister surprised us with a flash mob dance with mostly everyone in the room participating! It was such a surprise and just showed how much love was filled in the room.
