Welcome to the worlds first “anti-wedding” wedding shoot.
Styled shoots are always challenging as a filmmaker. It’s hard to tell a story when there really isn’t one.
Since we didn’t have another human to act as Suzanna’s partner, I thought it would be fun to take a twist on the typical wedding film.
I was really trying to radiate independent-queen-Beyoncé vibes. It’s definitely not a typical wedding film, but it’s magical, mysterious & wonderfully enchanting.
I spent hours looking for poems I could use as a background to the film, but couldn't find something that gave the message I wanted to give.
So, I ended up writing the speaking bits myself in about 5 minutes and really kicked myself for wasting so much time looking for the proper poems.
"When I was younger, love was all I dreamed of.
A true love.
Someone to hold me when I was scared.
My nights were spent dreaming on the wishes of stars shooting by,
hoping that one day this love would be mine.
But, when it came to be,
I realized the hurt and pain that comes with it.
It was a flickering candle lost to the power of a gentle breeze.
And I learned that sometimes it's better to rule your kingdom alone than with someone who's not really there."
We shot this back in July & got submitted for publication so I wasn’t able to share it until now! I’ve been itching for the day we got the go ahead. So enjoy this piece that I was honoured to be apart of.
