What do you get when two Star Wars fans fall in love? One of the best wedding stories we've ever told. It all started when Sophia met Hector briefly during freshman year at Whittier College. At first they were simply nameless faces in a crowd of students, and it wasn't until they hung out as a group at HorrorNights three years later that they began to talk. And oh how easily the conversation flowed between them. Before long they were dating and spending all their time together, with Star Wars marathons, endless visits to theme parks, and cozy reading sessions to form the basis of their friendship. He learned to rely on her ability to keep him accountable and couldn't help but love how easily she could nerd out with him. She came to appreciate how he helps her grow as a person and his willingness to listen no matter what she has to share. As graduation loomed, they both began to realize how real this relationship had become and how it would impact their decisions for the future. Hector chose to continue at Pepperdine University in order to keep the relationship a priority. That same month they said the most important words in any relationship. "I love you." "I love you back." From there Hector built up the courage to ask her parents for their blessing on one fateful trip to Disneyland. That blessing happily secured, he quickly formed a devious plan for a proposal in a hot air balloon early in the morning over Temecula. Because of COVID restrictions, Sophia and Hector had to shift their wedding day from a traditional celebration to an intimate elopement at an AirBnB in Temecula. But with such a fantastic relationship built around a love of Disney and Star Wars, the opportunity presented itself to bring those elements in with an adventurous day at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland.
