Wedding Date on Sep 7, 2019

Fourteen years ago, Sherif and Shelly were in 8th grade at the Christa McAuliffe School in Brooklyn, little did they know that this is also where their story started. They met when they were transferred into the same 8th-grade class and have been together ever since. Sherif was the class clown and Shelly was the shy quiet girl. One day, Sherif thought it would be funny to pretend to marry Shelly in front of the entire class as a joke. Shelly was mortified and hated all the attention. Sherif even had someone in the class make rings out of aluminum foil so that we could have a “real wedding.” Even though Shelly hated all the attention the couple started talking regularly and became best friends, and have been together ever since. Their adventure has been unique but full of so much love for each other. They've grown up with each other and became their best selves by each other’s side. They’ve gone through high school, college, long distance, first jobs, first apartments, and so much more together and can’t wait to see where else this crazy ride takes them. Shelly and Sherif come from completely different backgrounds, which makes their story extra special. Shelly and Sherif are both first generation immigrants. Shelly's family is from the USSR and she was raising in a russian speaking household with a very close knit family. Sherif is the the son of Egyptian parents, who came to the USA to provide a better life of their children. Sherif's parents always wanted a large family and were lucky enough to have four sons. There were bumps coming from such different backgrounds but it's only made our relationship stronger and Sherif has even picked up some russian in order to be able to communicate with Shelly's grandparents. There's no particular moment when Shelly and Sherif knew they wanted to get married, it was the cultivation of many years together that solidified for them that they were going to get married and it was just a matter of when. Having spent the majority of their lives together, there is no one else they could ever imagine being with. They are each other's greatest supporters, motivators, harshest critics and true life partners. Even though they are completely different, from their personalities, to the music they listen to, to the movies they like, and even the foods they like there is no one more perfect for each other. They truly balance each other out. Their wedding took place at the Estate at Farrington Lake with the couple's closest family and friends. Even though Hurricane Dorian nearly threatened their wedding, Saturday, September 7, 2019, ended up being absolutely perfect with the ceremony and cocktail hour being held on the beautiful grounds of the Estate. In keeping with Russian-Jewish tradition, the cocktail hour was held first and then followed by the ceremony officiated by Rabbi Scott. The elegant reception set to white and blush tones followed.
