Shelby and Steven have been planning this special day for over 2 years! The pandemic slowed their celebration but they decided to officially tie the knot last year. Then, this past February, we all got together to celebrate their love. It was a beautiful and elegant day. A few weeks before their wedding day, they announced they were expecting a baby girl which they also added into their emotional vows. We were all tearing up! We are so excited for them both and can't wait to see where their journey takes them.

We’re Alex and Jim. We met working together as visual journalists one hot summer in Phoenix, Arizona. We fell in love making documentaries, kept making them for awhile all over the country (and West Africa), then decided to make movies together forever and got hitched. To put it simply, we love what we do and we love doing it together.

The vision for this inspiration shoot was anything but traditional – modern touches in a rustic, woodland space turn the classic fairy tale on its head. Tons of candles, moss and twinkly lights bring magic to a gorgeous ceremony site, while a dark jewel tone color palette with gold flatware makes for an elegant and unique tablescape. Our brides share a dance in a romantic courtyard for a dreamy end to a beautiful night.

Alex grew up in Southern California, but has also lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Boston, Massachusetts and Rome, Italy. Her passion for cinematic storytelling began when she was earning her master’s degree from the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University. She produced video journalism for The Boston Globe, where she won an Emmy Award for a story about sexual assault survivors. Her work has appeared on HBO, The Boston Globe, Center for Public Integrity, and The Today Show, among others. When Alex is not running the business she enjoys snuggling with her black lab, Dandy, building elaborate lego displays and tap dancing.

Jim grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, but has also lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Boston Massachusetts and Monrovia, Liberia. He has been a visual storyteller for more than 10 years and works for Resolve Magazine as a multimedia producer in addition to Huckleberry Wedding Films. He graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and worked as a newspaper reporter in Virginia and Pennsylvania for four years before pursuing a master’s degree in Multimedia, Photography & Design at Syracuse University. His work has been published by The New York Times, The Player’s Tribune, The Dallas Morning News and National Public Radio, among others. When Jim is not telling stories, he loves exploring the natural world, learning to play the banjo and watching historic documentaries.
