From The Bride: Michael and I met in August of 2007 on the first day of sophomore year of high school. We had a lot of classes together that semester and learned that we had many mutual friends. We started talking in between classes, exchanged phone numbers, and eventually went out on a date. Our first date was to see the movie "P.S. I Love You." Michael still owns the brown Patagonia pull over he was wearing that night, and I smile every time I see it. It is such a good reminder of being 15 and crazy in love. Michael and I used to talk on the phone for hours at a time. On January 20, 2008, hours into one of our phone calls, Michael asked me to be his girlfriend. I was beyond excited! We have been on the best journey ever since, and have shared so many good memories. The very first place I ever drove when I got my license was to Michael's house! We went to two high school proms together, have been to over 15 concerts together, and have cheered on the Kentucky Wildcats at basketball and football games together. In the fall of 2014, Michael was offered a job in Houston, TX. I just couldn't imagine life so far away from him. So, in the summer of 2015, I made the move to Houston to join Michael! It was a warm week in Texas in the beginning of July in 2016 when we got engaged. Michael had planned a surprise trip for the two of us to Austin, Texas. We stayed at the beautiful Driskill hotel, ate delicious food, and listened to music all weekend long. Michael proposed on a private balcony he had reserved months prior with 2 dozen long stem roses, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries nearby. I learned that Michael had asked for my parents' blessings, had tipped off some of my friends about the plan, and had been hiding the ring in our apartment in a cowboy boot for 1 year! We planned our wedding in Lexington, KY from Houston, TX over 10 months. I loved the wedding planning process. Thanks to many incredible vendors, it was a fun and enjoyable process. One of the best things I did was buying a wedding planning binder that came with a strict timeline to follow. We were married on May 13, 2017 with our dearest friends and family around. As we ran through the sparkler send off at the end of the night and got in the getaway car, we looked at each other, started tearing up, and both simply said, “best day ever”.
