From the Bride: Josh and I met in high school (Sarah 16 and Josh 17) . We attended separate high schools but shared a group of childhood friends. However, unknown to us, my mother and Josh’s father met years before as my mother was representing a bank in a closing for a transaction on a piece of property that Josh’s father was developing - they immediately hit it off as they found that they shared a very similar sense of humor. Josh and I proceeded to date for the next 10 years, attending separate colleges and graduate schools until we were finally able to move in together in 2016. The long wait, hours of travel, and daily phone calls was all worth it ! Josh had a lot of pressure to keep the proposal secret - because we know each other so well, we are always able to catch on to any change in behavior. I have always been able to successfully guess birthday presents or any surprise he had arranged over the years. For the past few years, Josh and I would have our anniversary celebration at the Serenade in Chatham, NJ. So for our 10 year anniversary, we arranged our usual routine, -a delicious and elegant dinner at the Serenade, simply celebrating our lives together and no presents ! I always say no presents! But this year he left me speechless. Shortly before dessert was served, Josh stood up in front of me with a nervous smile on his face. After getting down on one knee and making a brief, but beautiful speech, I was left stunned. I had not even the slightest clue this was happening - everything about that moment was simply perfect.
