Evan and Samantha met during their sophomore year in high school. She went with a friend of theirs to Evan’s study hall classroom one day and they never stopped going. She had known of Evan already since he had been on basketball teams with a lot of her friends, so she figured that she would skip the formalities and just act like they already knew each other. Evan asked his sister where a good date spot was. She recommended Green Bowl. Unbeknownst to Samantha, Evan didn’t like Green Bowl (a Buffet) but still decided to ask Samantha to go there for dinner. Samantha felt bad that Evan didn’t eat anything at the buffet and wanted to make sure they got their money’s worth. Samantha made sure to make up for Evan’s lack of buffet visits... They finished the night by walking around Downtown State College and on Penn State’s campus. Samantha, who also is a photographer/videographer, had an inquiry to do an engagement session for mid-May. For almost two months, she emailed this bride, location scouted, sent engagement outfit inspiration, and set up a session. She told Evan that she wanted to get there an hour early so that they had time to scout out the specific places in the large park. Evan agreed, but casually wouldn’t let that happen. Since he would be shooting a “behind the scenes” of the session, he told her that she should look nicer than usual, and made her change multiple times! She was so frustrated that he was making them late! By the time they got to the location, they had 10 minutes to scout the park and set up! Evan continued to stall, making her set up their video gear for behind the scenes. She was FREAKING out by this point, continuously telling Evan that she didn’t care about the video, and explaining to him that they were going to seem unprofessional if they weren’t ready! Evan wasn’t helping much. He just kept stopping Samantha from location scouting and telling her to stay calm and that it was all going to be okay. This got her even more flustered. She was so confused. He shoots with her all the time, and he was not helping her scout! He was so focused on his behind the scenes footage! Eventually, he put the stabilizer and video camera down and went over to take the camera out of her hand. Finally, he was holding my stuff, and giving me the chance to look around! As she began to run, he stopped her once more. Oh man, was she flustered!! It was now the time that their clients were supposed to show up!! After stopping Samantha one last time, he grabbed her hand, looked into her panicked eyes, and told her that there’s no shoot today. At this point, she was confused, asking him what he meant! Evan told her that he staged this whole shoot. Her heart raced, this couldn’t be happening now! She was too jittery, too frantic, too flustered! But, it was happening. As he got on his knee, she stood there with tears in her eyes and her lens cap still in my hand. She was all over the place. She was so thrown off, that she even forgot to take the ring! Before she could collect myself, 35 of their closest friends and family came up from the bottom of the hill (the spot that she kept running towards to location scout). After they took a few photos, they joined everyone back at a pavilion that was decorated and filled with food and drinks from a local restaurant. Samantha didn't know how Evan worked on this for so long and included so many people without her ever being suspicious, but he did an amazing job! She says she feels so blessed to have someone like him in her life forever.
