Michaela met Ryan at NYC's post-college singles paradise: Brother Jimmy's BBQ and Bar. He was there for the New York Rangers playoffs (because, sports) and she was there for every other reason but that. Upon meeting there through mutual friends, they each thought the other looked familiar but didn’t know how. They later figured out that the two had previously matched on a dating app and Ryan had actually messaged Michaela only to hear radio silence back (Michaela still doesn't know for sure why Ryan looked so familiar, but at that moment she felt an instant sense of comfort). After spending some time getting to know each other more and connecting over being tired of the Brother Jimmy's Thursday night scene, Ryan proposed that next Thursday they have drinks instead. Since then, Michaela and Ryan have traveled to Thailand, moved to the East Village, and eaten over 100 “Sushi for 1” platters at their favorite sushi spot. Fast forward almost 4 years later and the two are engaged! Michaela had always dreamed of having a Boston wedding. Especially since she moved to New York, she wanted to have one last special memory at home. However, with Ryan's Grandfather sick, she knew having her wedding there would take away this memory from someone close to Ryan. Right as they were just about to book a beautiful Plaza in Boston, Michaela changed the destination to New York. Unfortunately, Ryan's grandfather passed away 1 month before the wedding, but as the two exchanged vows, guests claim they saw a bird fly across the stage just as their Grandparents were mentioned. Michaela's advise for those getting married: Your husband comes first. Your wedding comes second.
