I had recently moved back home from Nashville, TN where I went to college for one and a half years. I had reconnected with some girlfriends from high school and one had a boyfriend with a single best friend. She set up what was to be a blind double date with me, her and her boyfriend, and his best friend. The day of our date, my friend and her boyfriend broke up, so obviously the date didn't happen. A group of us insisted we 'go out' and not let her be sad that night. We went to Hot Shots in Wentzville. It just so happened the group of girls I was with, knew a group of guys that were up there playing pool. It was Russ and his five best friends. As everyone was saying their hellos, and introducing me, Russ walked right up to be with his ear to ear grin and introduced himself. He talked my ear off the rest of the time we were there. My friends and I ended up leaving shortly after and going somewhere else. A few days later I got a message from him asking to take me out on a date. For 3 weeks he tried to plan something for us, but I was so busy I kept having to say no... he started to think I was really blowing him off, but I genuinely just did not have time for a date. When I finally did have a free night he jumped at the chance and said he wanted to take us to the Cheesecake Factory... that afternoon it started heavily snowing. I texted him that we should postpone, obviously. He was so concerned I was just trying to get out of the date he insisted on going. After some strong persuasion from him I agreed and we had our first date in a full on snow storm. It took us over an hour and a half to get there, but it was an amazing and memorable night. The rest is history.
