About us: from Rose’s point of view Tom planned our first date, and it was a trivia night at a bar in Manhattan, where we both lived at the time. I just remember being very excited and nervous! I remember laughing a lot and forgetting to answer the trivia questions because we were talking so much. Anyway, Tom basically answered most of the trivia questions because they were on pop-culture and music (not my strength)….there was one science question and it involved the liver and the kidney. I said the answer was kidney…he thought it was liver. He wrote liver. It was kidney. Not sure why he didn’t listen to me, cause I’m the biology major! I said yes to a second date because I had a great time laughing and learning about Tom! Tom can be very silly! He spent a whole year doing Jerry Seinfeld, Christopher Walken and Donald Trump impressions…every day at dinner I’d have to listen to them….he thought they were very good. Haha Tom is passionate, full of life, handsome, big blue-grey eyes, FUNNY (often in a witty or self-deprecating way), a true friend and partner, amazing writer, creative, caring, family oriented, happy, trustworth, considerate, willing to try new things and go to new places, emotionally intelligent! About us from Tom’s Point of view Our first date was October 29, 2013 at Bar Thalia on 95th and Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. On Tuesdays, they do a trivia night so I intended to impress her with my wealth of useless knowledge. It should be noted that I had rarely participated in trivia before then or since, but I was a confident young man. It wasn’t weird, which was awesome. Rose was definitely tipsy after like one beer. She hadn’t had much to drink while she was teaching down in Mississippi for the two years prior. Luckily for me, she also hadn’t been on many dates, so I had a low bar to clear. We just had a really nice time together, so it was assumed we’d see each other again. The only weird part was saying goodnight, when I put her in the cab. It was a rushed goodbye and I wasn’t sure whether to kiss her on the cheek or lips so I kind of kissed the corner of her mouth in between. But, that wasn’t enough to prevent a second date thankfully. I have a couple about her texting me by accident: Very early on in our relationship she sent me a text out of nowhere that basically said “I love you!” with a bunch of extra e’s and u’s and hearts. It was like, “I loveeeee youuuuuuuu <3<3.” I immediately knew for certain that it couldn’t have been intended for me because it was way too early in our relationship to sanely say “I love you” to someone and you wouldn’t have your first time saying it be via text. But, instead of letting her off the hook, I gave her a hard time about it. I said something like “wow dropping the L word this early – bold move!” She was mortified.
