From The Bride: We were twelve years old in 2008, spending time with our friends at the local academy in the small town that I grew up in. We lived in different states growing up, Nick in Maryland, I in Pennsylvania. Nick was there for one week that Summer for a basketball camp. Coincidentally, I had a friend who lived on the campus who's dad was the basketball coach and was running the camp that Nick was at. For a week my friends and I followed the camp around everywhere they went, waking up early in the morning to end up at breakfast in the dining hall at the same time, pretending as if we were gym junkies and making sure to walk past the basketball gym every single day that week to catch a glimpse of the boys during their camp before going to sit on the floor in the gym and talk rather than actually working out, and making sure we were out on the front porch at the same time camp let out for the day as we knew the campers had to pass by the porch to get back to their rooms. By the end of the week, the boys had worked up enough courage to yell something at us when walking by the porch and it was history from there. Numbers were exchanged by all of us, but I had my eye on one in particular. We kept in touch after that week by texting and messaging back and forth on Myspace (social media at the time), and eventually dated for a few months a few weeks after we met. Sadly after those few premature months of dating I had my 12 year old heart broken by the same boy who would later come back into my life as a man and steal my heart away, in the best way, for the rest of my life. We kept in touch on and off throughout high school, and would occasionally find ourselves resulting back to one another every couple months to a year or so in between. From day one I told myself and everyone around me I was going to marry him one day. It didn't matter who I dated in high school, my mind kept resorting back to Nick. I tried hard during those times we would reconnect to carry on with a serious relationship with him, but he just wouldn't budge! So we'd do our thing for a week or so and then fade off once again. It wasn't until my sophomore year of college when the name "Nick Hill" popped up on my phone in the form of a text and I almost went into cardiac arrest from the shock. It had been almost 3 years since I had seen or heard from him, and I couldn't believe it. He came back into my life at the best time, because it was a time when needed someone like him and I think he knew that. From that point on we took on a long distance relationship. He was at college in Florida, I in Pennsylvania. Fast forward a year and a half later, Nick had just graduated from college and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. Where we thought the long distance had ended, the realization kicked in that it was just getting started. Not knowing when we would see each other next, Nick decided to pop the big question, the night before he left to fly across the country with a ring that he had been hiding away for a few months. Wedding planning began the day he left, and would continue for the next 15 months. We spent maybe 3 of those engaged months in physical presence of one another. Nick spent a season and a half playing baseball in Arizona for the Giants. Early in September '17, the season ended and I finally got to pick him up from the airport for the very last time. On September, 30th 2017 we got married. It was a cool fall day, and we were surrounded by so many people that love us and root for us every single day. That is the day that long distance officially ended for us, as we will be hitting the road together starting with Spring Training in 2018!!
