Nick said Delainey was the only girl who ever turned him down... which just made him want her more! They grew up going to the same church but since Delainey was 5 years younger they didn't interact much until they we were older. When Delainey was a senior in high school they started to hang out in the same group and which turned into flirting which grew into going on dates. She was very cautious since she was going to be attending college 4 hours away in a few months in Savannah, but Nick’s pursuit was unchanged. He knew they could make distance work and she trusted him. They started dating as her high school career was ending and dated all through college.
