Allen and I knew each other through mutual friends. But official met one night when we both were out with friends. We happened to be at the right place at the right time. He gave me a ride home that night and the rest was history. I didn’t use a planner or day coordinator. Michael the event coordinator at buttermilk Falls inn worked the day of execution, getting the guest from one place to the next. I organized and curated my list of vendors and directed how to I wanted to use their talents. Coming from a creative background I was really excited to be hands on in planning my day. When I started to look at venues I knew I really wanted a barn setting for my wedding reception and beautiful outdoor setting for my ceremony. Buttermilk was the first place I visited based off a friends recommendation and I instantly fell in love with it. The barn felt intimate, rustic and relaxed. It also was the perfect size for the smaller wedding I was planning. Furthermore, the grounds of buttermilk are incredible. We chose the river front patio for the ceremony, which over looks the hudson river. It is a bed and breakfast so the guests were able to stay in the inn or their luxe cottages. Funny story about how we got our date to our wedding. Although it was love at first sight for me, Allen wanted to make sure we saw other choices before nailing down the venue. So we did exactly that; but it was very clear none of the other venues were like Buttermilk Falls inn. Finally we exhausted the search and called back buttermilk. They only had 2 dates left for the spring/ summer season one in April & one in May. April was not desirable because of the chance of rain and all the flowers wouldn’t have been fully bloomed yet. And MAY - well according to a russian superstition (allen is russian) weddings shouldn't happen in may, so his mom was really sensitive about a may wedding. I chose to go to buttermilk anyway’s to talk and possibly take one of those dates (yes I know going against my soon to be mom in law would have been a bold move but I really wanted to get married at buttermilk.) Literally when we got there Michael the event coordinator was like I had a cancellation on a date in august. August 6th 2016. Which just so happens to be me and Allen’s 12th year dating anniversary. At that moment I knew ... and said yes!!
