Wedding Date on May 25, 2019

How They Met They met at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where they both attended undergrad. They were next door neighbors and they met for the first time on a football game day. Jonnie's house was having a tailgate party before the football game and Mikayla encouraged her roommates to stop by the party to meet the cute soccer players next door. Mikayla and Jonnie ran into each other outside and talked briefly. In the meantime, one of Jonnie's roommates and one of Mikayla's roommates exchanged phone numbers. Fast-forward to the weekend before Thanksgiving break, right when soccer season ended, Jonnie and his roommates were having a pregame and invited Mikayla's crew over. At the pregame Mikayla and Jonnie sat next to each other on the couch and the rest was history. One of Jonnie's rap songs was played at the pregame, Jonnie and Mikayla danced .. and they haven't stopped dancing since! The Proposal Fast-forward eight years to homecoming weekend in Madison. While Mikayla knew that they were going to Madison that weekend and that her college roommates would all be there, she had no idea that the reason they were going back was because Jonnie had asked them to come in order for them to be present for the proposal. Even Mikayla's roommate that lives in Denmark flew in for the weekend. At the time, Mikayla and Jonnie were living together in Chicago. Jonnie often traveled to Madison for work and told Mikayla that he had to be there earlier that week so I would need to take the bus from Chicago to Madison. While Jonnie felt bad about this, he was putting all of the proposal plans in place prior to Mikayla arrival. He had things planned to a T - even down to the time of the sunset. When Mikayla arrived in Madison, Jonnie was there to pick her up from the bus stop with her favorite meal that's only available in Madison (Mediterranean Cafe). They drove back to Mikayla roommate's sister's house so she could freshen up and wait for her friends to arrive because they all told her they had travel delays and wouldn't be getting in until later that night. While Mikayla was slightly sad her roommates were all delayed, Jonnie of course convinced her to make most of the time they had together there before everyone arrived. He encouraged Mikayla to go up to Capitol Square, which is where they spent a lot of time during there college years. It was the middle of October, so Capitol Square was beautifully covered with all of the bright red, orange and yellow fall leaves. They got dropped off at Mikayla 's favorite corner and as they approached the Capitol, Jonnie grabbed Mikayla hands and started talking to her about how it seemed fitting that they met here and that they had so much history together here. All of the sudden Mikayla heart starting racing and then Jonnie got down on one knee... and asked Mikayla to marry him. Mikayla couldn't believe what had just happened....She said yes! Unique or Surprising They surprised their guests with indoor sparklers for their grand entrance, and they had a choreographed first dance that they kept a surprise from everyone.
