Mike and I met at work - we have both been employed with United Group since 2010 and really started to get to know each other more in 2015 following a work trip. He was a Regional Manager at the time and I was/am the HR Manager. At first, I rejected his attempts to ask me out for drinks/dinner/lunch/anything at all because I was not sure how receptive/supportive people might be to the relationship with me being in Human Resources. Eventually, I caved in and we started to hang out more outside of work (however, only at bars/restaurants where I didn't think anyone would see us!) In starting to get to know each other, we had so much in common and pretty instantly felt the connection. Little by little, we started to disclose the relationship to people at work that we felt close with. Eventually, we made it known to our supervisors - with it being a family owned business, and knowing Mike and I both for a long time, everyone was beyond happy for us when they found out which has been amazing! Many of our co-workers and supervisors will be attending the wedding. The proposal took place September 4, 2018 on our annual vacation in Cape Cod where we rent a house for the week. Mike had invited both of our parents to stay for a few days and on this evening, had asked if I wanted to go see the sunset on Grey's Beach Boardwalk, around the corner from the house. I thought it was odd that he didn't include/invite our parents to come, since his had never seen the sunset there (which is something it's known for). But he seemed a little stressed out by hosting both sets of parents for the first time and said he just wanted a break/some time away. We went to the Boardwalk and walked all the way down to the end - we could tell it was going to be a beautiful sunset. I thought it was funny that he had been so quiet ALL day, and especially then! When we got to the end of the boardwalk, he asked a man that was sitting down reading a book if he would take his picture. He showed the man his cell phone and said "Can you see that?" - as if making sure he knew how to take the picture. The man started to read from the phone and Mike said, "No, no!" and then the man said, "Oh okay, I got it!". What I know now is that he had written a note on his phone saying that he was about to propose and asking to snap some photos. Mike came to join me with the sunset in the background and took a picture together. Then, he moved me back and said "Here, this is a better angle for me to propose" and got down on one knee! The man, who was a total stranger, capture the moment perfectly! It was beautiful.
