Melanie & Alex were only 2 short months away from the ballroom wedding of their dreams when the city of Atlanta issued a shelter in place order due to the pandemic crisis. Instead of postponing their whole wedding, the couple made the incredible decision to share private vows in front of their closest family and friends (14 people total) on their original wedding date of May 30, 2020. As their intimate ceremony quickly approached, St. Phillip’s Cathedral Atlanta, (a place extremely significant to their family) notified them that only 10 people would be allowed inside the building. Instead of being disheartened, the couple asked for permission to marry outside in one of the church's courtyards. Their request was granted and they were left with little time to quickly plan out a new ceremony spot. We all waited in excitement as the week of the wedding finally arrived, but unexpectedly, riots broke out all over the city of Atlanta the eve before the ceremony. The main thoroughfare in Atlanta was temporarily shut down and the city was sent into chaos as we all watched iconic locations being vandalized and set ablaze. However, even amidst the impossible circumstances, Melanie & Alex's determination to marry was not marred. We were incredibly fortunate to capture their intimate ceremony the very next afternoon. As loud police helicopters hovered overhead, they made a lifetime commitment to each other. Melanie & Alex’s perseverance and prioritization of marriage was overhwhelmingly beautiful.
