From The Bride: We met through mutual friends after their wedding. Megan was friends with the bride and Ryan was friends with the groom. Megan had just gotten out of a relationship, and she decided she was going to go "stag" to the wedding. Ryan spotted her in her red dress from across the room and asked one of the groomsmen "Hey-who's that girl!?" He chickened out approaching her at the wedding but begged his buddy for the next three months to set him up. Finally, three months later they all went out on a group date and the rest was history :) Engagement Story: Ryan had been planning a weekend getaway trip for months for their 2nd anniversary. He told Megan in April that they were going on vacation "somewhere" at the end of July (so she could plan accordingly with work), which left her both excited and guessing what was to come! Finally, the night before the trip arrived, and Megan wasn't sure whether to pack her parka or bikini (to which Ryan replied, "Megan it's JULY! Everywhere is hot!" Finally, Ryan decided to be nice and tell her they were going to the Finger Lakes! Megan was thrilled and impressed that her guy would know her so well as to take her to wine country on vacation :) Fast forward to the day of the engagement...Ryan had decided that THIS day (7/24/2015) was going to be THE day he was going to propose. He thought initially that he would propose while hiking in Watkins Glen National Park. He carried the ring in his backpack all day, but decided it was too crowded to do it right. He then decided he would do it after dinner back at their Bed and Breakfast. On the way to dinner, the sun was setting as they were turning onto another back country road. The trees opened up to a beautiful overlook of Keuka Lake, and Megan shouted "Oh my god! Look at how beautiful that is! Can we get out and take pictures!?" Ryan continued to drive, cursing at himself because it was the only time that day that he didn't have the ring! He tried to fool Megan into going back to the B&B to get it, claiming he had forgotten his wallet. But she told him kindly to not worry that she can pay for dinner! They had a wonderful dinner on the porch of one of the local restaurants, and soon enough they were back at their room. Megan was distracted with her excitement to put on sweats and pour herself a glass of wine while Ryan was quickly getting set up. Ryan told Megan that she wasn't allowed to put sweats on yet, to which Megan kindly responded "of course I can." Finally, Ryan called Megan out to their private deck, which overlooked the mountains. It was the end of dusk and a beautiful sunset. Ryan didn't waste any time getting down on one knee as he asked Megan to marry him :) And as a bonus: he got it all on video!!
