When Dave moved to the East Coast of the United States from Yaounde, Cameroon, he became a student at Shepherd University. Many students would enjoy their Spring Break in the Washington D.C. area. It isn’t surprising that Dave and Megan met while out one evening in the Spring of 2011. Both are fun-loving individuals that appreciate good music and dancing. Little did they know that their love would melt together their differences, backgrounds and cultures into one. Dave and Megan met while Megan lived and worked in Arlington, Virginia, but it wasn’t long before the two moved in together in Frederick, Maryland, Megan’s hometown. Once Dave finished his degree he decided to accept a job in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Megan wasn’t ready to move to the Michigan wonderland, and decided to stay back in Maryland, but we all know how that story ends, Megan was soon a Michigander as well and the couple enjoyed long winters and short summers in their home away from home. Megan and Dave like to make friends wherever they go. They create long lasting friendships and share a love for giving back to their community. Due to their personable nature, they have made friends in all stages of their life, they have friends close to home and around the globe. That’s why their wedding was one for the books, attendees traveled from Paris, France; Yaoundé, Cameroon; Kalamazoo, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois; Fort Lauderdale, Florida…just to name a few! Megan and Dave decided that Frederick, Maryland was the first place they lived together and wanted to honor their meeting place by having their weekend wedding celebration in Frederick County, Maryland. They were married in Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran church, a small quaint church that Megan grew up in. Their reception was held at Ceresville Mansion where there was tons of food, libations and dancing. Traditional Cameroonian music could be heard as well as 2000s hip hop and R&B that the couple grew up listening to in their college days. Dave and Megan both believe that they are an unlikely pair, knowing how completely opposite they can be at times. But they hope that their love can be an example to the world today, proving that differences can bring people together to create something lovely, invigorating and unstoppable.
