ean and Marissa’s story began in December of 2012 a bit untraditionally – surrounded thousands of people dressed as Santa Clause and bar crawling through Denver. If you know Marissa, you can probably guess that she was ignoring the December cold, opting for a red skirt and high heels to dress up the Santa theme. Friends of Sean probably could guess that he ditched the Santa-themed costume for his flat-brimmed hat and hoodie. While the city girl-meets-mountain snowboarder is probably not your expected love story plot, there must have been some Christmas magic in the air that day that sparked Sean’s confidence and began their story. He approached Marissa with a line straight out of a movie: “You have the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen.” Marissa was so taken aback by Sean’s romantic comment that she agreed to ditch her high heels for a Nuggets jersey for their first date. In the five years that followed, Marissa continued to give Sean’s lifestyle a try and let him teach her about Colorado sports, spent time in the mountains, and became close with his family. When the opportunity arose to move to San Francisco, it was Sean who dove head-first into Marissa’s lifestyle, eating fried shrimp by the pier and dim sum in Chinatown, frequenting swanky cocktail bars, and becoming a part of Marissa’s family. In early 2017, Sean was ready for the next step. He knew Marissa’s perspective – the longer he waited, the bigger the diamond had to be – so he decided he better act soon. Securing a rare free weekend with Marissa, Sean planned a trip to a private winery in Santa Rosa on a beautiful estate and hired a photographer to capture the happiest moment of their lives. Their story continues on August 31 in Pleasanton, CA and Sean and Marissa can’t wait to celebrate and start their marriage together, surrounded by all their family and friends!
