Many Irish wedding traditions originated from a fear of evil spirits in ancient Ireland, which is why you'll see many symbols of luck incorporated in an Irish wedding, like horseshoes and shamrocks. Music may come from Irish Uilleann Pipes or the Celtic harp, both sweeter than the Scottish bagpipes and renowned in Ireland. 

Grooms may consider a kilt, while brides may include Irish lace or Celtic symbols like knots, crosses or shamrocks in white embroidery.

And despite modern practice, Saturday was actually considered an unlucky day to wed in Irish tradition so use that as an excuse to save some money and get married on a Tuesday or Wednesday!
