From The Bride: Where do I even begin? Our first date was at a small wine bar in downtown Austin chosen by Raul. I walked into the room and saw him toward the back of the restaurant. He stood up and flashed the most beautiful smile I've ever seen (And that's saying a lot coming from me! haha) and I just couldn't help but be immediately smitten. We talked for hours until the restaurant closed and found our way next door to continue our conversation. I looked at the time and realized it was a little past one in the morning. As much as I hated to say good evening, it was a week night and 6:30 would come all too soon. Just to let everyone know how Special Raul was to me, Heath was introduced quickly. Haha!! We walked South Congress with a leash in one hand and Amy's Ice Cream in the other hand. We walked down to the SOCO bridge and watched the "bats" (yes, that's a thing here) and once again talked and talked. When we parted that day, I just knew this was a special man. Months passed quickly as we started incorporating each other in every day life. We watched nearly every NBA finals game together and almost every Saturday was spent at the pool! We met "the family" and things just seemed to fall in place. In the month of February, Raul asked me to take off on March 9th. He said, "I really just want to take a day off from work because I've been so busy lately". On March 8th, we had "tickets" to see West Side Story which I was absolutely beyond excited about. On a rainy Sunday on the 8th day of March we pulled into the Alamo Drafthouse parking lot and little did I know (or maybe I had a little bit of a hint) that I was about to get engaged. We sat there in the theater (with only two other people). He stepped out to use the restroom and the movie seemed to be starting late. The room went dark and I heard heels click on the theater floor. A slide presentation started and pictures of Raul and I started flooding the screen as a violinist began to play along to our pictures. At the end of the slideshow, the screen said, " WILL YOU MARRY ME?!". Raul walked around the corner and got on one knee with tears in his eyes!! The most precious moment of my life! I said, "YES, OF COURSE". Friends and family walked in the room but little did I know that Raul flew my mom into Austin to join in the special occasion. AWESOME!!
