We have been friends since 2006. We met in Italy while Maria was living abroad for her 5-year stay. Both of us were in other relationships to which we would marry. We always remained in contact and there was always an affinity in our friendship despite being married to other people. Maria’s marriage ended one year after it started with an unfaithful husband and my marriage the same with an unfaithful wife. Maria traveled to Italy quite often for work and we both reconnected during one of her visits to which each of us wallowed away in our sorrows over multiple cigarettes and vodka lemons. Life experiences are what brought us together, the respect and admiration we have for one another have no measure. We are best friends before anything and are one another's biggest fans. We take nothing for granted and we truly enjoy the simple things in life, often sitting on a park bench having long conversations, going for a run, or spending time with family. We are very simple and very real. Life has taught us the importance of authenticity and this is why we fell in love with each other. We laugh, we cry, we communicate, we sing, we dance, we fight, we make up. We fell in love the easy way, being ourselves and letting each other be themselves in return. I proposed to Maria on the couch in her family room. No bells, no whistles, or hot air balloon rides, just simplicity and tears, just the way she liked it. We love small details, everyday gestures, every day is a birthday or Valentine's day, we pay attention, we give, we love, daily. I am Spanish and I do everything with passion, even when I mop the floor, to bring sunshine to every situation and keep us laughing and positive at all times. Maria is an operations manager, she has OCD and is very serious but together this dissipates. Yin and Yang. We were separated for 10 months due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our first wedding scheduled for August 29, 2020. It was hard not knowing when we would see each other next. We learned that in this time apart, it was not a priority for us to have a big wedding but rather a marriage itself. So, in a couple of weeks, we planned a new wedding day and married the hell out of each other with 8 people present. What is important for us is honoring love, being present and nurturing joy.
