From The Bride: Nick and I met about 7 years ago and it was love at first sight. Before we met, Nick briefly worked managing a high end purse store and he used his knowledge of their products to approach me at a bar with some facts he thought would be a good conversation starter. What he actually did was declare that the bag I was carrying was a fake! Nick does not have a "whisper" setting when he wants to talk about something delicate, so when he announced (to what felt like the entire bar) that the purse I was carrying was a knockoff, I was MORTIFIED. I swore it was a gift and scampered off. We had the same group of friends and over three years we kept running into each other but I would always avoid him fearing that he would embarrass me again somehow-- until one day he mentioned he had gotten a puppy. My father was a veterinarian and animals have always been a huge passion of mine, so of course I had to see pictures and baby talk into his phone at the sight of the little guy. I should mention how much my dad means to be. He's that type of dad who just knows stuff, but doesn't need anyone to know it. Growing up, he would take me on farm calls and put me to work in his animal clinic helping sick animals... so I feel as though, in a way, after years of Nick and I keeping each other at a distance, us finally connecting over animals is perfection. From there we realized how much we had in common and how much time was wasted over such a silly misunderstanding. He asked if I would like to go out sometime and the only night we were both free that week was a ... Valentine's Day. So we had our first date on Valentine's Day and we have been in love ever since. A year and a half later he got down on one knee in a pile of manure in a horse pasture and I said yes! He knows better than to comment on anything I wear these days though :)
