Lori lost her first husband tragically, which made it difficult, not just for her but for her children, to be able to accept another person in the role of father. She was very careful with who she brought into their lives and according to her daughter Taylor, during her Maid of Honor speech that you’ll see in their Highlights film above, Vernon was the only man Lori brought into their lives. She was sure this was the real deal and it wasn’t difficult for Taylor to accept and come to love Vernon as her own father.
