"Early in October 2011, we crossed paths via the most beautiful, traditional and heartwarming of 21st century romantic Jewish rituals - JDate. I was taken aback by Lindsey's combination of beauty and willingness to respond to my email, while Lindsey took comfort in the fact that I 1) knew a few people she had gone to high school with, and 2) had asked her to meet at a bar literally 50 yards from her apartment, which provided an easy getaway if necessary. Things moved quickly from that point - somehow we thought it made sense to break the Yom Kippur fast together on our second date and to have Shabbat dinner with her parents at their home 3 weeks later - but we both knew from an early point that this was something real and very special. Over the last 4 years, we've gotten through 3 graduate degrees, 2 moves, 3 apartments, countless episodes of Netflix television series, and built a true partnership. There's plenty we have in common - the Red Sox, coffee frozen yogurt, puppies, Mexican food, nosey Jewish mothers . . . the list goes on. Lindsey's opened my eyes to some wonderful things, among them listening when others speak (I'm getting there), Martha's Vineyard, the Gilmore Girls and more - and, just as importantly, come to tolerate - and, dare I say, perhaps even embrace - some of my passions, even the more perpetually frustrating, like U.S. Soccer. Finally, after four years of fielding increasingly direct inquiries from members of both of our families as to what in the world I was waiting for, I began plotting as to how I was going to surprise her. I gave Lindsey no details as to where we were going or what we were doing, and went to work planning a romantic, picturesque and beautiful proposal. Of course, she knew exactly what I was doing and where we were going; by the time I got down on one knee I had no idea what I was going to say to the point that I could barely get the words out of my mouth, and we couldn't take in any of the magnificent vineyard's (apparently) breathtaking views because the Saturday marking our 4 year anniversary happened to coincide with a hurricane racing up the coast. It didn't matter, though - we were engaged! -Jeremy"
