From The Bride: Marc and I were introduced by another couple when we were both still living in Atlanta (we now live in NYC)--I was close friends with the guy (Chris) and Marc was close friends with the girl (Sally). (Chris is actually the one who married us and Sally was one of my bridesmaids.) Sally planned for Marc and I to meet at a concert. I, of course, knew about the set up and had "pre-screened" Marc on MySpace (yes, we met that long ago when MySpace was still cool). Marc, however, was totally in the dark. We hit it off that night and went on our official first date about a week later. And the rest is history! Marc proposed on New Year's Eve 2011, though I guess technically it was 12:05am on January 1, 2012. We had just watched the ball drop on TV and from our apartment balcony (we have a view into Times Square), and I was about to call my parents to wish them a happy new year. Marc told me to hold off for a bit and then started asking questions about where I had found all of the ornaments on our Christmas tree, since we had plans to take it down the next day. Then he asks me where I got the Christmas tree ornament and I was like, "What Christmas tree ornament?" He reaches around the side of the tree and pulls out a Christmas tree-shaped ornament that turned out to also be a ring box. He opened the box and proposed. I was in TOTAL shock. I am a pretty hard person to surprise and Marc successfully caught me totally off guard. And 8 months later, we were married! Our wedding also happened to be the catalyst for me starting my own wedding planning business. :)
