Instead of a traditional wedding, Leah and Bugra invited their closest friends and family to a space launch to "launch" them into their new life together. Their inspiration for this idea sparked from both their love of improv, and their desire to break free from cultural and societal pressures that had been placed on them in their pasts. They hired professional actors, developed characters, wrote scripts, and designed eccentric props, costumes, and decor to bring their vision to life: a fictional space launch set in 1962, hosted by Spaceforth Tehnologies Inc. and sponsored by Wonderay (a made up gadget). Listening to the speech given by the commander, you can see that this launch represents something much deeper for them. It's about breaking free from the rules and expectations that were put upon them, and creating a life for themselves that feels authentic to them. It was such a joy to see their guests fully embrace the day and celebrate the couple in all of their uniqueness. They thought a Wes Anderson style film would suite their eccentric vision perfectly and I would have to agree!
