This story is a bitter sweet one, with Lara losing her first husband in a tragic plane crash just months after they had their baby girl. Although the details of this tragedy aren't explicitly explained in the dialogue, it is referred to a lot - her pain, her previous hopelessness and devastation, etc - until she met Rhett and found hope again. She had a vision for her wedding day, inspired by a Bible verse and she mentions this in one of her speeches: "My vision started with a Bible verse Look, the winter is past, and the rains are over and gone. The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air.” Song of Songs‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬." This verse inspired her spring wedding and design full of greenery. The vows from Rhett to his new daughter were an important part of the story, as well as their vows to each other following the first look. This story is important to her, and I wanted her first marriage/husband to be honored while also focusing on her current wedding and marriage. It was a delicate balance, but the story was a beautiful one to tell with the sweetest happy ending (new beginning).
