Garry and I both went to college together and we knew each other for a few years before we actually started dating. We both had a mutual friend that we hung out in the same friend group. We always had a connection but did not want to start dating if it wasn't something we were both committed to, due to the closeness of our friend group. Garry is originally from South Africa and came to the United States for school. In 2018, we connected again and knew things were different this time. We secretly texted each other and hung out without our friends group knowing. But of course they found out. He asked me to be his girlfriend in 2018 downtown. We knew that we loved each other pretty earlier on in our relationship, which came very natural to both of us. During 2018, Garry was applying for his work visa to continue working in the states. I went on vacation with my family and when I got back we found out that his work visa was denied. We always knew we wanted to get married in the Fall time, but preferably Fall 2021. Unfortunately we did not have that option. Within 30 days of finding out, we got engaged on one night and married the next day at my parent's church. It was the most exciting, intimate, and emotional day of my life. We could not have been more happy about starting our lives together, with our close family and friends together. Unfortunately, Garry's parents and family could not be there and I knew I still wanting our fall wedding. We started planning our October wedding, and I knew I still wanted a ceremony and a reception. Because we were not able to say our vows in front of our extended family and have our friends stand up for us. From March to October we grew to love each other so deeply, learn each other's quirks, cried and laugh A LOT! Our October wedding was above everything we could have asked for. We had our friends and family dancing and laughing with us surrounding us with their love. We can not wait to continue growing our marriage together.
