Our Wedding Day Helicopter Ride One of my dad’s assignments on the Detroit Police Department was a helicopter pilot at the Aviation Section. Growing up, I always joked with him and said that I wanted him to fly my husband and I away after our wedding. Unfortunately my dad wasn’t able to be there because he dad passed away 3 1/2 years ago; however, my mom arranged the ultimate tribute to include my dad in our special day! Ironically, the helicopter flew in as we started saying our vows.
