Where We Met:
Brett and Kelly went to John Foster Dulles Elementary School and just so happened to be in the same 4th grade homeroom with Mr. Maxwell. Back then, they were both extremely shy so neither one said hi to the other. Throughout elementary school, middle school, high school, and even college at the University of Cincinnati, Brett and Kelly's paths never really crossed. They had mutual friends but nothing more.
How It All Started:
Brett liked a photo that Kelly was tagged in on Instagram which had Kelly thinking Brett Frondorf? I haven’t seen or talked to him in years...what's he up to these days. Kelly started following Brett on Snapchat and Instagram and he followed back. That same shy girl outgrew her shell and decided to DM (direct message) Brett and the two hit it off. Eventually on a brisk November night...Brett agreed to hang out where the two met for margs and queso at Bakersfield. After Bakersfield the two walked to Taft's Ale House for a drink. Brett then convinced Kelly to walk all the way from Taft's Ale House to Smale Park to sit on one of the swinging benches. Little did she know that these long walks were not going to be a one time thing as she soon learned that Brett would rather walk 3 miles by foot than spend $15 on an uber. After that night the two continued to hang out as friends and even took their first road trip to Ann Arbor in January 2017 to visit some friends. Later that month, Brett officially asked Kelly out on their first date to Carrabba's and they soon made things official on February 19th, 2017 on a trip to Asheville, NC.
The Proposal:
Brett and Kelly traveled to Petoskey, MI with Brett's parents for the 4th of July weekend for a mini vacation. The first day there they drove to downtown Petoskey and walked around the Bayfront Park. Brett spotted what looked like a lighthouse from afar and suggested they walk down to check it out. Kelly recently got into photography and had her DSLR camera as she captured some of the beautiful views of the lake. Kelly took a picture of Brett's parents and then as they started to walk back down the pier toward the car, Brett asked his dad to take their picture. After the first picture, Brett asked his dad to take one more as he reached in his back pocket and got down on one knee. It was a total surprise! Not even Brett's mom or dad knew he was going to propose which made the moment that much more special.
