Kelley + Ben's wedding planning was an absolute roller coaster. They booked us for their May 2020 wedding just weeks before the country shut down due to COVID 19. The rescheduled for late November 2020, thinking things would clear up better by then. Of course, that didn't happen and just 5 days before their wedding Kelley + Ben learned that Kansas City would be closing to weddings and gatherings over 10 people, once again. This incredible team didn't let up hope and worked closely with the Health Department to receive approval for their wedding under these conditions: they had to slash their very large guest list to 50 people or less, everyone in attendance had to receive a negative COVID test just a few days before, each guest had to have their temperature taken prior to entry into the venue, and masks were to be heavily enforced at all times. When I tell you these two pulled off the most surreal and stunning day under some seriously difficult circumstances... I mean it. This perfect day would never have gone over so smoothly if it wasn't for such an unbelievably wonderful pair of humans. Kelley + Ben described themselves to us by saying: "we are partners in literally everything in life! We tell each other everything, and are best friends." And this showed so much on their wedding day. We always claim that first looks are the best part of the wedding day, because up until that moment, the couple is all a bundle of slightly awkward nerves. But once they finally get together with their partner, their person, the one that they know, love and trust, everything calms down. The nerves are easier to handle when you have your person beside you, and seeing Kelley and Ben come together during their first look was absolute magic. They immediately came to life - they laughed and joked, and you could instantly see how perfect they were for one another, and how they each brought out the best in the other. They were a team of absolute joy, love, and kindness. They went through it thanks to this pandemic, but they had the most incredible day. We are so grateful to have been there to see it happen, and get the chance to know this wonderful people. So, cheers to Kelley + Ben! A power couple if there ever was one!
