On the island of Hawaii, Dylan took Keana to a secret, secluded beach to hunt for shells. As they walked, Dylan found an incredibly rare and fully intact shell with a unique heart pattern. A little later on their walk Keana found an identical, matching shell with the same heart-shaped pattern (you can see these shells on the table at the luxury treehouse in the film). This was one of the many moments in their relationship that confirmed to Keana and Dylan that God was bringing them together. In telling Keana and Dylan's love story it was important to capture their love of Hawaii, family, and the Spirit of Aloha. Growing up together they would get up before the sun rose and drive to an ancient valley where they would surf the morning sets just off shore from the black sand beach. This magical place was their ideal location to exchange their vows and capture their love of the island, adventure, and each other. With a little boy and a new baby on the way, it was important to Keana and Dylan to highlight the importance of Ohana (family). This film not only tells their super romantic love story as a couple, but weaves in their growing family on the island. As filmmakers we wanted every aspect of this project to communicate the value and meaning of their world in paradise. This is why we selected the words, Aloha (love) and Ohana, for the title- "Alohana". We think it perfectly encapsulates the two Hawaiian values that help to define Keana and Dylan's love and life together on the big island.
