Wedding Date on Jun 18, 2016

From The Bride: How We Met- It all began the first week back at Purdue University their Senior Year. Somehow, miraculously, Grant and Katie had not managed to meet their first three years at college. Then that fateful night came along at Where Else? Bar on campus when the two would meet. Katie was hesitant at first, but eventually gave into Grant’s charm and agreed to be football buddies for the Senior year season. The two attended football games, tailgates, Breakfast Clubs, Formal Dances, informal dances, late night cheesybread-eating sessions and everything in between together. They were inseparable. Fall turned to Winter which gave way to Spring and their relationship became stronger and stronger. Graduation became a regular topic of conversation as the St. Louis native planned to return home just as Katie planned to return to Nashville. It was decided that the couple would pursue that ever-daunting experience that every other couple in the world wishes to avoid: Long Distance. Grant ended up working for Tesla Motors in Denver, Colorado and Katie began working for Kenrose Elementary just outside of Nashville. Both of them had incredible jobs that unfortunately were hundreds of miles from one another. Love persisted however and weekend trips (thank you Southwest direct flights) became the new normal. Grant was ecstatic when Katie decided to spend the summer of 2013 living close by in a Denver house, giving them every free moment together exploring the mountains. The end of that summer was bittersweet as Grant decided to explore a job at Tesla Headquarters in California, making their long distance relationship now over a thousand miles apart. This lasted less than a year however, as the two were so fed up with Skype and red-eye plane flights that Katie decided to move from Tennessee to California. She came to the Golden State to pursue her Master’s degree in Education at Santa Clara University just a few miles from Grant’s work. Life was finally settling into place and after a few months, Grant knew it was time. He mustered up some courage to ask Katie’s dad for her hand in marriage and devised the most romantic proposal for Katie in Chicago, where they were surrounded by all their friends and family. Wedding Planning- We always knew we wanted to get married in Nashville. It was driving distance for all of our friends and family, an incredible city to visit, and it held so many of our favorite memories. We were living in California at the time and made several trips to Nashville to make sure every little detail represented us. Our venue, wedding planner, and of course my mom were a huge help throughout the entire process! We called our style "rustic elegance." We wanted a natural location with wood and greenery but also lots and lots of candles and chandeliers. It was our goal for our guests to feel the love we have for one another on our wedding day and to have an incredible time!
