How we met: Spencer and I both grew up in Michigan, graduated with a Supply Chain Management degree from Michigan State University (he was a year older), and lived on the same street at MSU for 2 years. You would think at this point we would have met during that time, but the answer is no. We didn’t meet until I moved to Greensboro, NC after graduating in 2014, where he had already been living for the last year. We always joke about how it truly was fate that we ended up meeting in North Carolina even though we may have crossed paths multiple times at MSU. I think part of the reason we connected so quickly is we both could relate to shared stories about mutual friends and growing up in the Midwest, while trying to adjust to life in the south. It taught us to quickly trust and confide in each other during the hardships of moving away from family, starting our first full time corporate job, and trying to get adjusted to a completely new state where we knew no one. For the next four years we continued to grow and mature together, realizing there was no way we imagined our lives without each other. North Carolina will always be a special place in our hearts because it brought us Michiganders together! How we got engaged: Spencer and I were traveling to Gloucester, Massachusetts in August 2018 to meet his family for a summer weekend getaway! We arrived at his families home in Gloucester right around sunset after a day of flight delays and traffic from the Boston airport. We were more than ready to get out of the car when we got there, so after quickly getting settled Spencer led me down to the rocks overlooking the water to watch the sunset. As the sun was setting, he got down on one knee and proposed! Through all the emotion, I looked up at the house and saw my mom, dad, and Aunt Donna standing there with Spencer’s family! In an already so special engagement, having my family there to witness this moment shows how much he truly knows the way to my heart! We had so much fun celebrating this exciting milestone with both our families and toasting champagne! Was there anything unique or surprising about your wedding? I would say the most surprising and unique moment was when Spencer sang “Danke Schoen” by Wayne Newton with our band during the wedding. When I say that everyone in the ballroom was on the dance floor soaking up this moment, it is not an understatement. The Simone Vitale Band did a phenomenal job as the music and entertainment of our wedding. In one of our first meetings Simone told Spencer that he wanted him to sing one song with them during the reception, and boy am I so glad they went through with it! Everyone loved it, Spencer did a great job, and no one left the dance floor for the rest of the evening! Here is picture evidence of this moment:
