Alex and Kaitlyn met unlike most people meet… through their dads. Their families have worked in the same industry for years and eventually their dads became business partners – but who knew that out of that partnership, an amazing love story would blossom?! After 7 months of dating long distance (long, long distance… Chicago to LA long distance), Kaitlyn knew that she had to make a move and give their love a real chance. In her own words… “I have never been more grateful for my inherit ‘fuck it’ attitude that led me to make that decision. Alex is the kindest, most thoughtful, incredible man that I know and I am thrilled to spend a lifetime adventuring with him. From climbing railroad trestles in British Columbia, to sleeping on a sailboat in Ibiza, we have a passion for life, travel and the beautiful outdoors.” Their wedding was more than just a day – it was a wedding festival weekend! It took place at The Hideout in Kirkwood, which is not an easy place for anyone to just show up! It’s tucked in the middle of the woods, south of Lake Tahoe. Thursday night was welcome night at the house, Friday was a lake day filled with cliff jumping, canoeing, and good vibes, Saturday was their epic wedding, and Sunday was an extra day to explore the entire property. Throughout the entire weekend… one theme kept popping up – “community”. Kaitlyn and Alex wanted their wedding to be more than just about them… they wanted to create an incredible experience for those who came all the way out to the middle of nowhere, with no cell service, just to celebrate their love. Nothing represents that better than their first dance, when everybody joined in on the fun as the song picked up. There was so much joy and emotion throughout the entire weekend, but especially in their first dance, and you’ll see why! Kaitlyn and Alex – we love you guys!
