Both Justine and Josh are in the military - when they first met they knew it was love at first sight, but Justine was stationed in Germany and Josh was stateside. Every chance they got they would spend it together, including Christmas 2022 when Josh got to meet a lot of Justine's family for the very first time. They had initially planned to elope but hated the idea of their closest family and friends not being there. We spent the weekend at a ranch in the mountains of Western North Carolina and something strange happened during the edit of this film - it started talking back to me. Not only was I making something for "them," but the film started speaking to me about the importance of being present and taking nothing for granted. I tried to incorporate this motif during Justine's vows with the water rushes symbolic of time passing.
